Injectables, in general terms
An injectable is a product placed into or under the skin with a needle or cannula. In a med spa, that usually means wrinkle relaxers or dermal fillers. Products, doses and techniques differ, and so do the areas a provider will consider.
Because these are injected, rules are stricter than for a facial. Injectables are given by licensed providers where state law allows, and Nevada sets who may inject and what supervision applies. A provider will also need your health history and a list of your medicines before anything is decided.
If you are curious but unsure, a consultation request is a low-pressure way to ask.
Questions to ask about injectables
Write these down and bring them:
- What product are you suggesting, and why this one?
- Is it a wrinkle relaxer or a dermal filler?
- What is your license, and how often do you inject?
- Do any of my medicines or conditions matter here?
- What side effects are possible, such as bruising or swelling?
- What would you do if a complication happened?
- How long do people usually wait between visits?
- Can a filler be dissolved if needed?
Injectables are given by licensed providers where state law allows, and a careful provider welcomes questions.
Getting ready for an injectables consultation
Before an injectables consultation, take ten minutes to write a few notes:
- the area or areas you want to ask about
- a list of medicines and supplements, including aspirin, fish oil and vitamin E
- allergies, including to numbing creams
- any past injectables, with dates and where you had them
- whether you are pregnant, planning to be, or breastfeeding
- events in the coming weeks, since bruising can show
Bring the notes with photo ID and your questions. A licensed provider uses them to decide what is suitable.
Questions about injectables
Who can give injectables in Nevada?
Who may inject is set by state rules, and they differ. Depending on the rules, injectors may include physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners or registered nurses, sometimes under supervision. Injectables are always given by licensed providers where state law allows. Ask any provider what license they hold and who supervises them.
What is the difference between wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers?
Wrinkle relaxers are a purified protein injected into specific muscles, and they act on muscle movement. Dermal fillers are gels placed under the skin in chosen areas. They are different products with different techniques. A licensed provider can explain both and decide what, if anything, is suitable for you.
Does this site inject anyone?
No. This site is not a clinic and has no providers. It passes your consultation request to a local provider in or near Reno. Any injectable is given by a licensed provider where state law allows, after a consultation where they decide what is suitable.
